10k Bachelor's Degrees

In 2014, St. Johns River State College accepted Governor Rick Scott’s “$10,000 Degree Challenge.” In support of the Governor’s higher education affordability challenge, the College is offering two baccalaureate degrees at the $10K rate.

Eligible SJR State bachelor's degrees:

New SJR State baccalaureate students accepted for admission in one of the eligible degree programs are eligible to participate. Current SJR State baccalaureate students are not eligible.

SJR State’s $10,000 bachelor's degree program is a 2+2-style program. Students who meet the requirements will receive a tuition waiver or scholarship for their last 20 credits during their final two semesters, reducing the total cost to less than $10,000.

The $10,000 cost does not include special fees, lab fees, textbooks, credit hours outside of a student’s program of study, prep or repat courses, or other associated program costs which are the responsibility of the student.

10K Admission Requirements:

  • Be classified as a Florida resident
  • Earn a minimum of 15 credits through advance placement, international baccalaureate, or dual enrollment courses while in high school; or through transfer or otherwise earned credit
  • Have an earned Associates degree
  • Formally apply and meet all admissions criteria for the applicable bachelor's degree

Once admitted to the $10,000 bachelor's degree program, to remain eligible to participate and receive the tuition waiver during the final semesters, students must:

  • Maintain continuous full-time enrollment in their bachelor’s degree program (12 or more credit hours each Fall and Spring term)
  • Successfully complete a minimum of 30 credit hours per academic year in the bachelor's degree program
  • Meet all program continuation requirements on schedule
  • Maintain an overall 3.2 GPA or higher, to include all Associates, Bachelors, and transfer coursework
  • Must have a current completed FAFSA
