Discovering who you are and what you do best can be a difficult and frustrating task especially when it comes to deciding what you are going to do with your life. But this is not a task you need to face alone. Here at SJR State we have several resources available to help you in your self discovery.

The self-assessments listed below are available online to any SJR State student and are free of charge:


Florida Choices Planner
Florida Choices Planner is a computerized career, education, and financial aid exploration and information system that will help you increase your awareness and develop career and educational plans.

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator This instrument helps assess one's personal style of decision making and information gathering based upon Carl Jung's theory of psychological type. It can help you consider how compatible career choices will be with your personality type.






Strong Interest Inventory The SII is based on the idea that individuals are more satisfied and productive when they work in jobs or at tasks that they find interesting and when they work with people whose interests are similar to their own. The SII measures your interests in a wide range of occupations, occupational activities, hobbies, leisure activities and types of people.






Self Directed Search (SDS) This career interest inventory developed by Dr. John Holland helps you explore your interests and discover occupations and fields of study that best match those interests.
