A.S. Degree - Limited access program

Program Length:

  • 5 Semesters: The A.S. degree program can be completed in approximately 5 semesters with students
    attending classes on a full-time basis.
  • Four years: Complete your A.S. degree and continue your education with SJR State’s Nursing: RN to BSN - Bachelor of Science Degree. (ONLINE PROGRAM)

Location: The nursing programs are located on the Palatka and Orange Park campuses.

Accreditation: The A.S. degree in Nursing prepares students for careers as registered nurses. The program is approved by the Florida Board of Nursing. Graduates are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). This nursing education program, Associate of Science in Nursing, is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).

Notes: Anatomy and Physiology courses must be completed within seven years of application date to the nursing program. Any student with a passing grade for courses over seven (7) year limit will need to repeat the course with a grade of ā€œCā€ or better.

The policy will be enforced beginning with the May 2015 nursing application period. This allows students two semesters in which to repeat their coursework if older than seven years. Students that need to repeat Anatomy and Physiology must see a college advisor or workforce advisor.

This notice is to update you on laws related to health care licensure and prior criminal history. The following two items will provide you information on legislative changes and the Board of Nursing's perspective on prior criminal history and disciplinary action that may impact your eligibility to complete clinical experiences in the nursing program and that may impact your eligibility to take the NCLEX licensure examination. Note: Applications that do not make the intended semester will not "rollover" to the following semester. You must notify our office in writing prior to the next application deadline if you would like your application to be considered for the next available semester.
