NURSING: LPN BRIDGE TO ASN 0208

A.S. Degree

This degree program is targeted to assist Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) who want to take their education and skills to the next level. The LPN Bridge program will give students a jump start on earning their A.S. degree in Nursing by awarding 10 college credit hours toward the degree. Upon completion of the program, graduates are eligible to apply for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).

Program Length:

  • 5 Semesters: The A.S. degree program can be completed in approximately 5 semesters with students attending classes on a full-time basis.
  • Four years: Complete your A.S. degree and continue your education with SJR State’s Nursing: RN to BSN - Bachelor of Science Degree. (ONLINE PROGRAM)

Location: The nursing core courses will be offered on the St. Augustine campus with selected clinical experiences in health care facilities within and around the tri-county service area of SJR State.

Accreditation: The LPN Bridge to the A.S. degree in Nursing is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), 3343 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 850, Atlanta, GA 30326, (404) 975-5000, www.acenursing.org. The program is approved by the Florida Board of Nursing and may be applied toward a BSN degree at Florida’s state colleges and universities.

Notes: Anatomy and Physiology courses must be completed within seven years of application date to the nursing program. Any student with a passing grade for courses over seven (7) year limit will need to repeat the course with a grade of “C” or better.

The policy will be enforced beginning with the May 2015 nursing application period. This allows students two semesters in which to repeat their coursework if older than seven years. Students that need to repeat Anatomy and Physiology must see a college counselor or workforce advisor.

The following two items will provide you information on legislative changes and the Board of Nursing's perspective on prior criminal history and disciplinary action that may impact your eligibility to complete clinical experiences in the nursing program and that may impact your eligibility to take the NCLEX licensure examination.
