Florida School of the Arts presents "CLUE: The Musical"
Mrs. Peacock seems suspicious.
Professor Plum is lurking in the study.
Is that a candlestick Colonel Mustard is clutching?
Florida School of the Arts needs your help in piecing together all of the vampy, campy details and solving a most amusing crime!
The mystery will unfold in the Main Stage Theatre as the popular board game "Clue" comes to life on stage. Written by Peter DePietro with music by Galen Blum, Wayne Barker and Vinnie Martucci, and lyrics by Tom Chiodo, CLUE: The Musical is an interactive musical sure to bring back memories and entertain audiences of all ages with its comic antics and witty lyrics.
The play runs February 23 - 25 at 7:30 p.m. and February 26 at 2:30 p.m. at the Florida School of the Arts located on the St. Johns River State College Palatka campus. Admission is $5.
According to Director Ed Kelly, if you love the game, then this mysterious musical will be right up your alley. "The characters are tokens on the game board and come to life with a different suspect, weapon and room each night," Kelly said, hinting of an element of surprise at the end of each show. "It's a small cast, but the performance packs a lot of punch with sparkling costumes and sparkling actors."
Audience members are welcome to play along and solve the mystery; however, participation is not required to attend the performance. Game materials will be distributed prior to each show.
The performance also includes a live orchestra featuring community members Rob Eccles, Brittany Maroney and Justin Staub.
Set designer Rob O'Leary said the stage has been created to draw the audience into a fun romp through a board game enjoyed by several generations. "Remember to mark your detective pad as you sneak around Mr. Boddy's mansion, and be the first with all the "clues" to solve the evening's mystery," O'Leary said. "The lounge, study, kitchen and halls, as well as the ballroom and billiard room, will house all sorts of hints to lead each audience to a different ending."
The cast includes: Alex Rubio as Mr. Boddy, Jake Scozzaro as Mr. Green, Cheyenne DeBarros as the detective, Matt Quick as Colonel Mustard, Stephanie Garcia as Mrs. Peacock, Gregg Baker Jr. as Professor Plum, Christina Baroniel as Miss Scarlet and Michael Ross as Mrs. White.
Musical direction is provided by instructor Stephanie Masterson and choreography by instructor Lee Dando.
The costume designs were created by student Shea O'Neil, who said he researched the different versions of the game that have evolved throughout the years and chose a look similar to the latest edition. "It was the look I wanted to convey," he said. "A look that is rooted in the past, but with no specific time period - yet still very modern."
In addition to working with vibrant colors, O'Neil said he also enhanced a few of the costumes" shapes to further define the characters. "The colors and silhouettes tie into the whole aspect of this unrealistic world they live in," O'Neil said.

While the cast consists of eight performers, countless hours are dedicated to the backstage magic and mayhem that result in a flawless, convincing performance. The collaboration of many talented students majoring in the technical/production side of the arts include: Doug Brown, technical adviser; Jonathan Keith, stage manager, Katie Bregenzer, assistant director; Bryan Sellers, lighting design; Molly Harris and Shirley Sullivan, paint charges; Blu Cook, properties master; Andrew Crews, sound design/engineer; Adam Campitelli, technical director; Jesse Bethke, master carpenter; and Jason Cazella, light board operator.
