Florida School of the Arts announces 2012-13 season

Florida School of the Arts announces a variety of performing and visual arts events to enlighten and entertain with its 2012-13 season. Dean of Florida School of the Arts Alain Hentschel said the season includes something for everyone, with performances including "Picasso at the Lapin Agile," a comedy by Steve Martin that skillfully squeezes the funny out of the fundamental, and "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee," the coincidentally-titled Broadway musical by Rebecca Feldman. This interactive production features six quirky adolescents who compete in the Bee, run by equally-quirky grown-ups.

Also included this season are the annual dance concerts, where the dance, costume and stage design programs join together to create a colorful and exciting evening of ballet, jazz and modern dance.

The visual arts calendar will be equally diverse with gallery shows exhibiting drawings, paintings and sculptures by a variety of artists and students.

The new season begins September 6 with an exhibition featuring sculptures by faculty member Dan Askew.
