SJR State Press Release May 2012 SJR State, Putnam community welcomes Senator John Thrasher St. Johns River State College President Joe Pickens, J.D., recently hosted a special meet and greet for Senator John Thrasher. More than 25 Putnam County officials and business leaders were invited to meet the Senator after the recent redistricting was approved by the Supreme Court to now include all of Putnam County. Thrasher presented an overview of his professional background during the meeting to members of the city and county commissions, SJR State Board Chairman Diane Leone, Putnam County Sheriff Jeff Hardy, Putnam County School Superintendent Tom Townsend and Florida State Representative Charles E. Van Zant. Guests sharing their concerns regarding Putnam's future projects and needs included officials from the Putnam County Chamber of Commerce, Georgia-Pacific and Seminole Electric Cooperative, Inc. District 6 now encompasses all of Putnam, St. Johns and Flagler counties and also extends south to take in the northeastern quadrant of Volusia County. Return to SJR State home page.
