Using nearly $1 million awarded by the U.S. Department of Labor and in coordination with the U.S. Department of Education, the funds are part of the Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training grant created to expand targeted training programs for unemployed workers, especially those in rural areas. The grant is part of Florida XCEL-IT, a program created by a partnership of seven Florida state and community colleges, including SJR State. Over the next three years, with the College of Central Florida leading the project, the consortium will expand its capacity to serve Trade Adjustment Act (TAA)-eligible workers as well as other eligible participants.
