SJR State offers child care courses

St. Johns River State College will offer non-credit courses to train students for employment in commercial or residential child care programs.  The program meets or exceeds the minimum introductory requirements mandated by the Department of Children and Families. 

The following courses will be offered on SJR State’s Palatka campus:   

Behavioral Observation and Screening – 3/24/15 and 3/26/15; 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.
CCF Rules and Regulations – 1/13/15 and 1/15/15; 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Child Growth and Development – 3/10/15 and 3/12/15; 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.
FCCH Rules and Regulations – 1/10/15; 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Health, Safety and Nutrition – 2/26/15, 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. and 2/28/15, 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Identifying/Reporting Child Abuse – 1/24/15; 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Infant and Toddler Appropriate Practices – 3/5/15, 5:30 – 9:30 p.m. and 3/7/15, 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Preschool Appropriate Practices – 1/29/15, 5:30 – 9:30 p.m. and 1/31/15, 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
School Age Appropriate Practices – 2/19/15, 5:30 – 9:30 p.m. and 2/21/15, 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Special Needs Appropriate Practices – 2/12/15, 5:30 – 9:30 p.m. and 2/14/15, 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
 
Registration fees for child care courses include book costs.  A full rotation of child care courses is offered quarterly to allow students to spread out their classes or take a class missed earlier in the year.
