Viking Volleyball players sign National Letters of Intent
Two St. Johns River State College Volleyball student-athletes recently signed National Letters of Intent, advancing their academic and athletic careers to the university level.
Viking middle blocker Tricia Kama, a native of Hawaii, has signed with Ashford University in Clinton, Iowa, where she will major in psychology. “I’d like to thank Coach Matt Cohen and Coach Candace Lunford for making me a better athlete and person,” she said. “I have enjoyed all the memories I’ve made here and the time I’ve spent with my team.”
Teammate Jenna Swaffer has signed with Warner University in Lake Wales, where she plans to major in exercise science. The setter from Henderson, Nevada, has been named to the Florida College System Activities Association All-Academic Team, is an NJCAA Academic All-American and a Mid-Florida Conference Scholar Athlete. “I am very thankful for the two years I have had at SJR State,” Swaffer said. “I am lucky to have had the opportunity to play for great coaches and with amazing teammates. I’m excited to continue my athletic and academic career in this next chapter of my life at Warner University.”
SJR State Head Volleyball Coach Matt Cohen said he and his staff could not be more proud of these student-athletes. “Today is an exciting day as two players from my initial recruiting class are signing with four-year universities,” he said.
SJR State athletics consist of women’s volleyball, women’s fast pitch softball, and men’s baseball and are based on the Palatka campus. For more information regarding SJR State athletics, visit www.SJRvikings.com.
