SJR State to honor graduates December 15
St. Johns River State College will celebrate its fall commencement on December 15. The College will acknowledge the associate and baccalaureate degree candidates, as well as its certificate candidates, from the Orange Park, Palatka and St. Augustine campuses.
The fall commencement is set for 10:00 a.m. at the Thrasher-Horne Center located on the SJR State Orange Park campus. Doors open at 9:00 a.m.
SJR State President Joe Pickens, J.D., has announced alumnus Ron Brown as the commencement speaker. Brown graduated from St. Johns River Junior College in 1968 before transferring to the University of Florida, where he earned a Juris Doctor degree. His extensive career includes 17 years as a partner in a private law firm before working as the attorney for the City of St. Augustine for seven years, retiring in 2014. He currently serves as legal counsel for the SJR State District Board of Trustees. Brown also serves as chairman of the SJR State Foundation Board of Directors, as well as a director for The Arc of the St. Johns.
The Thrasher-Horne Center is owned and operated by SJR State and is located on the Orange Park campus at 283 College Drive.
