SJR State to honor graduates May 6

St. Johns River State College will celebrate its spring commencement on May 6. The College will acknowledge the associate and baccalaureate degree candidates, as well as its certificate candidates, from the Orange Park, Palatka and St. Augustine campuses.

The spring commencement is set for 11:00 a.m. at the Thrasher-Horne Center located on the SJR State Orange Park campus. Doors will open at 9:30 a.m.

SJR State President Joe Pickens, J.D., has announced Clay County Commissioner Diane Hutchings as the commencement speaker.

Hutchings currently serves as chairman of the Clay County Commission and as vice chair of the North Florida Transportation Planning Organization. She was elected in 1993 to serve on the Green Cove Springs City Council, completing two terms and also serving as vice mayor and mayor during her tenure.

Hutchings has over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry and is the managing director of First Florida Investment Services. She holds a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation and is certified in Long-Term Care Planning (CLTC). Hutchings is a member of Orange Park Sunrise Rotary, a trustee on the board of Orange Park Medical Center and a precinct committee woman for the Clay County Republican Executive Committee.

The Thrasher-Horne Center is owned and operated by SJR State and is located on the Orange Park campus at 283 College Drive.
