Miss Florida Miss Florida to visit SJR State Palatka campus


MaryKatherine Fechtel, Miss Florida 2015, will be on the Palatka campus Tuesday, Jan. 26 promoting the upcoming 2016 Miss Florida Azalea Scholarship Pageant. Join us for a meet-and-greet from 11:20 to 11:40 in the Viking Center.

The Azalea pageant (held in March) serves as a preliminary for the Miss Florida Pageant in 2016.

Miss Florida 2015 is a senior at the University of Florida, majoring in Family, Youth and Community Services with a minor in Nonprofit Organizational Leadership. She won the title this past June at the state finals, where she competed with 47 other young women for the opportunity to represent the Sunshine State as Miss Florida 2015 and an educational scholarship of $18,000.

As Miss Florida, she travels the state promoting her personal platform, A Safety Net: Protecting Our Youth from Online Predators and as a state ambassador for Miss America’s national platform partner, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. She serves as a spokesperson for the Everglades Foundation advocating the protection and restoration of America’s Everglades and educating students on Everglades Literacy.
