Vystar Credit Union and vice president receive SJR State’s 2016 River of Excellence Award
The Business Advisory Board at St. Johns River State College recently presented the 2016 River of Excellence Award to Vystar Credit Union and Vice President Lori Wagner for their contributions to the College’s business education program. The River of Excellence Award was established in 2013 to recognize business partners who contribute to the success of SJR State’s business education program.
“The River of Excellence program honors our valued business partners for their consistent contributions to SJR State’s Workforce Business Education department,” said Joel Abo, director of business education. “Just as the St. Johns River needs natural springs to help it flow north towards the ocean, we need those special business partners to help guide our program and to provide our students with the best education possible, providing the community with an educated and well-trained workforce.”
Partner contributions range from monetary donations to volunteering time as guest speakers for students and interview-panel judges for class group presentations. Assisting at college career fairs and organizing field trips to the Federal Reserve are also ways the partners contribute to the program. Previous winners of SJR State’s River of Excellence Award have been the Thompson Baker Agency as well as Carr, Riggs & Ingram, LLC.
SJR State offers Associate in Science degrees and college credit certificates in accounting, business administration, industrial management technology, office administration, and logistics and transportation. The College also offers a bachelor’s degree in organizational management with four specializations: supervision and management, health care administration, emergency management/public service and computer information systems.
