Vikings receive All-Conference honors - Softball

Six Viking student-athletes have been named to the 2016 Mid-Florida Conference team for softball.  Sophomore Savannah Montgomery was an All Mid-Florida Conference first team selection, and sophomore Amanda Peck and freshman Christiana Marasa were selected for the All Mid-Florida Conference second team.  Sophomore Haley Wildes and freshmen Kayla Kight and Sydney Shows were All Mid-Florida Conference honorable mention selections. 

Montgomery ended the 2016 season with a .343 batting average, which included 35 runs, eight doubles, one triple, seven home runs and 44 runs batted in (RBIs) as well as 14 stolen bases.  The infielder from Lakeland was equally impressive in defensive play, boasting a .931 fielding percentage in the 53 games in which she played.  Montgomery was a member of the 2015 All Mid-Florida Conference second team and was an NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Softball Player of the Week during her freshman season.

Peck ended the season with a .362 batting average, including 61 runs, six doubles, three triples, two home runs, 21 RBIs and 41 stolen bases.  A sophomore transfer from Stetson University, the outfielder had an impressive .957 fielding percentage, committing only four errors in the 53 games in which she appeared.

Marasa finished the season with a .320 batting average, which included 20 runs, five doubles, 32 RBIs and three stolen bases.  The freshman pitcher from Palm City had a record of 11-11 on the mound, including one save, and a 4.81 earned run average.   She had a fielding percentage of .985, committing only one error in the 50 games in which she appeared. 

A graduate of The Bolles School in Jacksonville, Haley Wildes scored 41 runs for the Vikings this season, including 11 doubles, two home runs, 45 RBIs and 11 stolen bases.  Defensively, the infielder led her team with a .989 fielding percentage, which included three double plays, in the 52 games in which she appeared.

Viking utility player and Creekside High School alumnus Kayla Kight ended her freshman season for the Vikings with a .370 batting average, including 25 runs, eight doubles, two home runs, 25 RBIs and eight stolen bases.  She also had a .906 fielding percentage for the season. 

Lafayette High School graduate Sydney Shows had an impressive freshman season, batting .346 with 41 runs, 12 doubles, two home runs, 30 RBIs and 12 stolen bases.  Defensively, the infielder ended the season with a .964 fielding percentage. 

The Viking softball team ended its 2016 season at 28-25 and 9-15 in conference play.
