SJR State offers Saturday child care courses

St. Johns River State College will offer non-credit courses to train students for employment in commercial or residential child care programs.  The program meets or exceeds the minimum introductory requirements mandated by the Department of Children and Families. 

The following courses will be offered on SJR State’s Palatka campus:   

CWF0017 (FCHR) Family Child Care Home Rules and Regulations - 4/2/16; 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
CWF0016 (FACR) Child Care Facility Rules and Regulations - 1/16/16 & 4/9/16; 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
CWF0021 (UDAP) Understand Developmental Appropriate Practices - 1/23/16 & 4/23/16; 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
CWF0012 (CGAD) Child Growth and Development - 1/30/16 & 4/16/16; 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
CWF0013 (BOSR) Behavioral Observation and Screening - 2/6/16; 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
CWF0018 (SAAP) School Age Appropriate Practices  - 2/13/16; 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
CWF0015 (CAAN) Identifying and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect - 2/20/16; 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
CWF0020 (ITAP) Infant and Toddler Appropriate Practices - 2/27/16 & 4/30/16; 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
CWF0014 (HSAN) Health, Safety and Nutrition  - 3/5/16 & 5/7/16; 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
CWF0019 (PSAP) Pre-School Appropriate Practices - 3/26/16; 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
CWF0004 (SNAP) Special Needs Appropriate Practices (directors - must complete both sessions)
      Thursday, 3/10/16; 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. and
      Saturday, 3/12/16; 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

The schedule is subject to change.  A full rotation of child care courses is offered quarterly to allow students to spread out their classes or take a class missed earlier in the year. 

Registration fees for child care courses vary for each course and include book costs.  Students may register for one or more courses.
