SJR State to honor graduates December 14
St. Johns River State College will celebrate its fall commencement on December 14. The College will acknowledge the associate and baccalaureate degree candidates, as well as its certificate candidates, from the Orange Park, Palatka and St. Augustine campuses.
The fall commencement is set for 10:00 a.m. at the Thrasher-Horne Center located on the SJR State Orange Park campus. Doors open at 9:00 a.m.
SJR State President Joe Pickens, J.D., has announced Clay County resident and former SJR State Trustee Ron Coleman as the commencement speaker.
Coleman is the principal and chief executive officer of BARONCO Management Consultants Inc. In addition to serving on the College Board of Trustees from 2011 to 2017, Coleman has been a member of the Clay County Chamber of Commerce since 2001 and served as board chair from 2009 to 2010. He was the regional vice president for the University of Florida Alumni Association and served on the organization’s board of directors, and has been involved with the University of Florida Gator Boosters. From 2001 to 2008, Coleman was a member of the Clay County Development Authority and served as chairman. He also served in the United States Navy from 1975 to 1997.
The Thrasher-Horne Center is owned and operated by SJR State and is located on the Orange Park campus at 283 College Drive.
