SJR State to host Risk Management and Insurance Career Expo
St. Johns River State College will host a Risk Management and Insurance Career Expo at the Thrasher-Horne Center located on the Orange Park campus on Thursday, October 4 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. The event, which is free and open to the public, will inform attendees about job opportunities in the risk management and insurance (RMI) industry. Major insurance companies and local agencies will be present to discuss opportunities, share job openings and offer giveaways. Safeco Insurance Company is the event sponsor.
Director of Business Education Joel Abo said, “We will also discuss SJR State’s risk management and insurance program at the expo and the process for getting licensed. Also, the Florida Association of Independent Agents will present $5,000 to SJR State’s RMI scholarship fund for students.”
SJR State offers a unique RMI specialization that allows students to receive up to three Florida insurance licenses while bypassing the state exams. The RMI program provides students with the skills and knowledge needed for employment in entry-level RMI positions as well as supplemental training for persons previously or currently employed in these areas who need to upgrade their skills. Additionally, the RMI program can serve as an intermediate step toward the Associate in Science degree in Business Administration.
For additional information or for local insurance companies or agencies interested in showcasing their services at the expo, contact Joel Abo at or 904-808-7485. Space is limited and filling quickly.
