SJR State congratulates Viking 5K Run winners
St. Johns River State College presented its fifth annual Viking 5K Run on Saturday, May 26. Participants from locations as far as Pompano Beach, St. Petersburg and Mattoon, Illinois ran and walked in the USATF certified course, which included a challenging two-way trek across Palatka’s Memorial Bridge.
The overall male champion was Rich Smith, 39, of Gainesville, who ran the race in 19:03. The overall female champion was Kelly Brasol, 30, of Palm Coast, running the race in 19:59.
Awards were also presented for first, second and third place male and female winners in each age division. Male winners in each age group were:

The Viking 5K Run was presented by Waste Pro with additional sponsorship provided by the Putnam County Tourist Development Council, Oliver Oaks and Vines, Baker’s Sporting Goods, Holmes and Young, P.A., and Uncork and Unwind.
