Fall Leisure Courses

Immerse yourself in art history

St. Johns River State College will offer an art history leisure courses this fall on the St. Augustine campus. The non-credit courses will be taught by local artist and Florida School of the Arts instructor David Ouellette.

Art History I – Students will cover the art of the Aegean culture through Greek, Roman, Late Antiquity and Byzantine Art, including the palaces, paintings and sculptures of the Cyclades islands, Crete and Mycenae. Students will study ancient Greek art, from the emerging Geometric and Orientalizing periods through the Early and High Classical periods and Hellenistic times. Students will also study Roman art, with its many influences, from the Republic, Early, High and Late Empirical times, through Late Antiquity and Byzantine Art.

The class will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. from September 25 through October 25 on the St. Augustine campus, Room S-114. Registration for the non-credit course is $55.00.

Non-credit art history class offered to the public

St. Johns River State College will offer an art history leisure course this fall on the St. Augustine campus. The non-credit course will be taught by local artist and Florida School of the Arts instructor David Ouellette.

Art History II – Students will study art in Italy and Northern Europe from the 14th century through the late 19th century, which includes the Early and High Renaissance, the Mannerist Style and the dramatic works of the Baroque Period, followed by Rococo and Neoclassical styles of art and conclude with the Romantic Period and the great landscape artists of Germany, England and America.

The class will meet from 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from November 1 to December 6 in room S-114 on the St. Augustine campus. Registration for this course is $55.00.

SJR State offers Yoga

St. Johns River State College will offer two non-credit Yoga classes on its St. Augustine campus. The classes are open to the public. Registration is $35.00.

Led by Shivani Tomasovitch, classes will be held through December 11. Participants may register for either class at any time during the fall semester. Classes are available Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. or Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Registration forms are available at the St. Augustine campus A building.
