SJR State offers non-credit drawing class
St. Johns River State College will offer a Drawing I leisure art course this spring on the St. Augustine campus. In the non-credit course, taught by local artist and Florida School of the Arts instructor David Ouellette, students will develop basic drawing techniques by concentrating on the elements of descriptive drawing - line, volume, position, placement and proportion of subject matter, as well as a full range of values - using graphite and various media. Students will also learn to comprehend and develop composition principles and apply them to their drawing exercises. There will be regular critiques, and students can expect to work outside of class.
The class will meet for 10 sessions from 2:00 – 4:30 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays on the St. Augustine campus, beginning February 6. Registration for the Drawing I course is $65.00. There are no requirements or prerequisites to register for this course. To register, download the continuing education registration form from the College website at SJRstate.edu/continuinged.html.
