Community Based Job Training - Healthcare Education Alliance
St. Johns River State College was awarded a $1.9 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor's Community Based Job Training Program. The grant project, Healthcare Education Alliance (HEAL), is a strategic partnership to enhance opportunities for workers to engage in comprehensive training in healthcare that will lead to improved employment options.
The project activities are funded 100% by the Community-Based Jobs Training grant. The project has significant support from healthcare agencies and organizations throughout the SJR State service area.
The goal of the HEAL project is to strengthen the career lattice of nursing and allied health fields to help workers gain entry level employment and/or continue to improve their skills, leading to career advancement. The HEAL Project provides support to a range of SJR State training programs, from short-term certificate training in Nursing Assistant, Phlebotomy, and Emergency Medical Technician, to more advanced degree training leading to an Associate of Science degree in Nursing, Respiratory Care, Radiography, and Emergency Medical Services or a Bachelor of Applied Science in Organizational Management with a specialization in Health Care Administration.
The HEAL Project offers multiple training services to students that participate in the grant. The services offered to our HEAL students are designed to improve their academic success and provide an on-going framework for career planning. The services include workshops, access to study resources, career assessment and job marketing skills, employment placement activities, and academic counseling support.
