COURSE DESCRIPTIONS


AEB 2102
Principles of Agribusiness Management (3 credits)

This course provides an introduction to the principles of economics as applied to agribusiness management. It also provides the student with training in developing job skills, career planning, budgeting, recordkeeping and determining insurance needs as well as personnel.

AEB 1949
Agribusiness Internship (3 credits)

This course consists of a supervised field experience(s) to provide practical application in appropriate work settings in order to reinforce knowledge acquired in the classroom. It is recommended that students take this course near the end of their degree program. Prerequisites: GEB 1011, MAN 2021, and permission of the Dean.

Agricultural Machinery & Equipment (3 credits)

Agricultural machinery and equipment addresses facilities and equipment essential to a successful agricultural enterprise. Topics include land preparation, facility layout, storage facilities, animal facilities, agricultural machinery, harvesting technology and safety around equipment.

Introduction to Horticulture (3 credits)

An introduction to the disciplines involved in the broad field of horticulture. Upon completion of this course the student will be able to relate this information to daily experience in the horticultural industry.

Pest & Disease Control (3 credits)

Basic practical skills and knowledge pertaining to the management of pests and diseases and to gain specific skills and knowledge in identifying and controlling pests and disease in grasses, plants, shrubs and trees

Introduction to Irrigation (3 credits)

Students will learn a brief history of irrigation and the five florida regions of water management, and be exposed to basic components of agriculture, large turf, golf, commercial, residential irrigation systems.
