Associate Director of Development – University of Florida College of Medicine

Lacie Silcox Klann

As a student worker in the Foundation office at St. Johns River State College, Lacie Klann was introduced to the field of nonprofit fundraising. Today, at the University of Florida College of Medicine, Lacie is the associate director of development. "In this role, I fundraise for the College (UF), focusing on priorities like our new $47 million Harrell Medical Education Building and $30 million ‘Their Future, Your Legacy’ scholarship campaign,” she said. “I enjoy knowing that my work is easing the debt of our current medical students and preparing them to become excellent caregivers in the future."

Lacie graduated from SJR State in 2007 with her Associate in Arts degree. While attending SJR State, she served as a Viking Ambassador and president of the Student Government Association, and was inducted into the SJR State Hall of Fame. Lacie continued her education at UF, earning her Bachelor of Science degree in 2010 in Family, Youth, and Community Sciences, as well as a Master of Arts degree in Mass Communication - Public Relations in 2012.

“Earning my AA degree at SJR State gave me a great foundation in general courses before transferring to UF,” said Lacie. “As I went on to study at UF, I learned more about nonprofit fundraising through my coursework and discovered that I could fundraise in a healthcare setting, which I enjoy most. I loved the idea that a career in this field would allow me to make a tangible impact on someone else’s life each day that I went to work.”

Outside of her work at UF, Lacie is a member of the Junior League of Gainesville, a women’s organization committed to voluntarism, helping women develop their potential, and improving communities.
