B.A.S. ORGANIZATIONAL MANAGEMENT: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS


Who is eligible to apply for the B.A.S. in Organizational Management degree?
Applicants must have earned an A.A. or relevant A.S. degree to be admitted.

What is the difference between the two specializations of the degree?
The B.A.S. in Organizational Management degree offers specializations in Supervision & Management and Healthcare Administration. The specializations are designed for students who seek career opportunities in public, private, or non-profit organizations.

The Healthcare Administration specialization is tailored to students who aspire for management and leadership opportunities within hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, and other healthcare organizations. Specialized courses focus on finance, economics, policy, and systems in health care.

The Supervision & Management specialization is ideal for students pursuing management and leadership careers across a wide variety of industries. Specialized courses focus on accounting, business, finance, and management.

Both specializations are designed to prepare students with the foundational skills needed to advance their careers within their chosen organizations, in positions with increasing management and supervisory responsibility.

Can a student complete more than one specialization?
Students can only complete one specialization of the degree.

Does an applicant need to have a background in the field or work experience to enter this program?
The degree is open to students from a variety of backgrounds and work experience is not required.

Is the Organizational Management program available fully online?
Both specializations of this degree are attainable fully online.

Are all courses offered every semester?
Core courses that are required in both specializations of the degree are offered every semester- fall, spring, and summer terms. Specialized courses may be offered on a more limited basis, and planned rotations should be followed for timely degree completion.

How long does it take to complete the degree?
The degree is a total of 120 credit hours. The time to degree completion will vary based on part-time or full-time enrollment. Students who are enrolled full-time can typically complete the degree within two years after the A.A. or A.S. degree.

Will transfer credit or military credit be awarded?
The determination of transferability will be made in accordance with SJR State policies. Official transcripts must be received for evaluation. Up to 60 credits may be awarded from a conferred A.A. or A.S. degree. Official military transcripts will be reviewed upon request, and credit determined on an individual basis.

Are internships available in this program?
Students seeking to complete an internship will coordinate with career services and program personnel for potential opportunities.
