CJE 1641
Crime Scene Technology I
(3 credits – 3 hours)
This course covers foundational concepts and skills related to crime scene investigations and will primarily focus on crime scene processing and the proper methods to identify, collect, and preserve evidence.

CJE 1642
Crime Scene Technology II
(3 credits – 3 hours)
This course expands upon the concepts and skills taught in Crime Scene Technology I with a continued focus on crime scene processing and the proper methods to identify, collect, and preserve evidence, and includes advanced methods and techniques.
Prereq: CJE 1641 Crime Scene Technology I

CJE 1671
Latent Fingerprint Development
(3 credits – 3 hours)
This course covers techniques used in the detection, enhancement, and recovery of latent fingerprints. This course includes different methods to collect fingerprints from various surfaces for analysis.

CJE 1770
Crime Scene Photography I
(3 credits – 3 hours)
This course covers basic crime scene photography skills, including camera operation and exposure control, proficiency in relational photography, and flash control for evidentiary documentation.

CJE 1772
Crime Scene Photography II
(3 credits – 3 hours)
This course expands on the concepts, knowledge, and skills taught in Crime Scene Photography I, and includes specialty light sources, lighting techniques, shutter speed, depth of field, filters, and utilizing specialty equipment.

CJE 2649
Forensic Death Investigations

(3 credits – 3 hours)
This course examines the legal/medical investigation of death. Topics include the pathology of trauma, forensic issues relating to the investigation of death, and evidentiary factors distinguishing homicide form accidental, natural, or traumatic death. Class discussions will examine the cause, type, and manner of death.
