Career & Technical Education (CTE) Scholarship Program

The SJR State Career & Technical Education (CTE) Scholarship is designed for students who wish to continue their high school CTE studies at SJR State.

The scholarship covers Associate in Science (A.S.) degrees, but not certificate programs, Associate in Arts (AA), or Bachelor’s level coursework, will be awarded in the spring semester for the upcoming year, and includes SJR State tuition and fees (at the in-state tuition and fee rate) for up to 30 semester hours, per academic year.

Procedures for Applying:

Program Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a graduating student from a Clay, Putnam, or St. Johns County High School Career & Technical Education (CTE) or Career Academy program that aligns with a SJR State A.S. degree.
  • Must be enrolling in an A.S. Degree (scholarship is not available for students in Certificate, Associate in Arts, or Baccalaureate programs).
  • Must possess a minimum overall High School GPA of 2.8.

The scholarship selection committee will consider all complete and eligible applications; however, all eligible students may not be awarded a scholarship.

Requirements to maintain scholarship:

  • Must be enrolled at least three-quarter time (9 credit hours) or full-time (12 credit hours) during the Fall and Spring terms to receive and keep the scholarship.
  • Must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.8, in a minimum of 18 credit hours, for the Fall and Spring Terms of an A.S. degree.
  • Maintain continuous enrollment (no breaks except for summer) until completion/graduation.
  • Meet with assigned Workforce Outreach & Student Success Coordinator at least ONCE each fall and spring semester.
  • Participate in at least TWO scheduled faculty mentoring sessions each fall and spring semester.
  • Participation in additional mentoring/tutoring sessions may be required based on academic progress reports.
  • Work with assigned Workforce Outreach & Student Success Coordinator and assigned Mentor to ensure you are taking the appropriate courses and prerequisite courses for your intended program.

Renewal Requirements:

  • The scholarship will fund a maximum of 60 credits, or until completion of an A.S. Degree, whichever occurs first.
  • Must have met all requirements to maintain scholarship.
  • Notify assigned Workforce Outreach & Student Success Coordinator of intent to renew the scholarship by May 1st.
