Know Your News: Critical Thinking and Media Literacy… HOW TO SPOT FAKE NEWS

The St. Augustine campus Phi Theta Kappa honor society (Alpha Xi Eta chapter) will host an educational forum focusing on media literacy and misinformation/fake news. The round table discussion will be held Thursday, December 7, at 3:00 p.m. in the SAC Library, room L112.

Participants will discuss the role of the media in the 21st century, how the media has changed over the past decade, and the rapid proliferation of fake news on social media.

The panelists include SJR State administration and faculty members: Dr. Melanie Brown, Dr. James Maggio, Mr. Royce Bass, Professor Matthew Giddings and Dr. Longin Kaczmarsky. Professor Mark Little will be the moderator.

The forum is open to all students, faculty, staff and the public.
