SJR State golf classic raises funds to benefit athletic programs

The St. Johns River State College Athletic Association recently hosted its annual golf classic at the Palatka Municipal Golf Course.

The first-place gross winning team consisted of Tom Tipton, Tanner Tipton, Teyler Tipton and Taran Tipton.

The first-place net winning team consisted of members of Palatka High School’s golf teams Johnathan Guthrie, Lauren Mathews, Julie Wilhite and Jewel Wilhite.

Winning “closest to pin” were players Tom Sykes (#3), Jeff McClellan (#6), John Garrett (#12), Larry McKenzie (#14) and Glen Herring (#16). Taran Tipton won the longest drive on hole number 9. T. Carmen won the putting contest.

Funds raised will benefit SJR State’s athletic programs. Thanks to the participants, hole sponsors, and sponsors Oliver Oaks & Vines, and Dr. Kuruvilla/Cancer Center of Putnam/Putnam Florida Radiation and Oncology Group, and Seminole Electric, Inc.
