Graduating visual arts students from the Florida School of the Arts (FloArts) will showcase their capstone work in the main gallery at FloArts, located on the Palatka campus of St. Johns River State College. The exhibition will open with a gallery reception at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, and the art will remain on display through May 16, 2019. The reception and exhibit are free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and during main stage performances.

“This work is a culmination of the students’ two years of study in either studio art or graphic design/new media,” said Sarah Alexander, gallery coordinator. “The work will feature a range of mediums, such as paintings, drawings, photographs, digital videos and illustrations, as well as sculptures and three dimensional work.”

Student artists include Naomi Huff and Samantha Woodward, who are majoring in studio arts, and Ta'Neil Cargill, Rachel Espino, Sean Mansfield and Kaylei Smith, who are majoring in new media and design.

Florida School of the Arts is part of the academic and administrative structure of SJR State and awards two-year associate degrees in fine art, graphic design, dance (ballet and contemporary), production/design, acting and musical theatre. Admission is based on an audition or portfolio review, an interview with the faculty and admission to SJR State. For more information, call (386) 312-4300 or visit
