PRESS RELEASE: APRIL 3, 2024

FloArts presents An Evening of Dance

Florida School of the Arts presents “An Evening of Dance.” The show runs April 12 – 14, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., with 2:30 p.m. matinees on Saturday and Sunday on the main stage theatre at the St. Johns River State College Palatka Campus. Admission is $10. Tickets can be purchased online in advance or at the box office one hour before showtime.

The concert's overarching theme is “Common Thread.” According to the show’s directors, Jessica Mayhew-Borrero and Andrea Montez, there are 10 pieces, each accompanied by a transitional dance that brings the scenery to life. The show represents a mesmerizing tapestry of emotions and themes, intertwining the intricate threads of human experience. “Using an array of ballet and contemporary movement, the dancers weave intricate stories and connections, reimagining them through expressive choreography and modern perspectives,” Mayhew said. “This production invites audiences to immerse themselves in a world where the fabric of humanity is woven together through the medium of dance.”

The cast features a mixture of dance and musical theater majors:
Alexis Brockway, Kaylee Cravey, Jalen Hardy, Cassidy Heath, Alexander Heck, Luke Keeley, Ian Leduc, Farentino Lennox, Ciara McCarthy, Makari Nealy, E. Noah Perez and Caleb Urbistondo.
