PRESS RELEASE: JANUARY 16, 2024

SJR State holds spring FAFSA Frenzy events

St. Johns River State College will present “FASFA Frenzy,” at three locations this spring, beginning with its Palatka Campus on February 12. The event will provide pertinent information to families interested in applying for college financial aid.

“Finances should not be a barrier to attending college,” said SJR State’s Financial Aid Director Suzanne Evans. “The event will provide qualified students with information necessary to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which is the first and most important step in applying for financial aid.” To apply for federal student aid, such as federal grants, work-study, and loans, students are required to complete the FAFSA.

Potential students can base their financial information on the previous year’s tax return. Those intending to enroll in college during the 2024-25 academic year are encouraged to complete the form as soon as possible, as some funds are awarded on an as-needed basis while others are awarded first-come, first-served.

Attendees are highly encouraged to RSVP the event AND to apply for their student/parent federal student aid ID prior to the event to ensure prompt verification and completion of the application during the event. To create the FSA ID, visit: https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch
