New year, new skills

SJR State is offering the following community courses:

The Art Forum – This dynamic drawing class is designed to ignite your creativity and refine your artistic skills. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced artist, this collaborative space offers guidance, inspiration, and techniques to bring your ideas to life. Explore various styles, share ideas, and connect with fellow art enthusiasts in a supportive, college-based community. Class is instructed by Dr. Maisoun Kawwaff.

Classes begin Thursday, Jan. 16 on the SJR State Orange Park Campus. Attend each Thursday from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. through April 3. Cost is $20 and take as many classes as you want.  This non-credit class is open to current students and the public. Students will need to purchase their own art supplies including paper, easels, colors and pencils.

Introduction to Data Analytics – This FREE, non-credit 12-week course is open to current students and the public. Classes begin Monday, January 27 on the SJR State Orange Park Campus. Choose between two time slots 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

This course is designed to provide a strong foundation of data analytics and its practical, real-world applications. Through hands-on projects, students will learn how to collect, analyze, and visualize data to make informed decisions. By the end of the course, participants will be equipped with the knowledge to sit for an industry-recognized certification in data analytics.

Course includes Google Spreadsheets in weeks 1-4, SQL in weeks 5-8, and Python weeks 9-12. No previous experience is necessary.

Data analytics is a high-demand skill in today’s job market, and this course provides a unique opportunity for participants to explore a valuable career path without financial barriers. By fostering data literacy and preparing participants for industry-recognized certifications, the course empowers individuals to enhance their career prospects and contribute to their community. Class is instructed by Dr. Daniel Ray.
