Lady Vikings players named to All-Sun-Lakes Conference Teams, will host playoffs

With the first-place regular season finish in the Sun-Lakes Conference, student-athletes from the St. Johns River State College softball team are celebrating notable honors with 10 student-athletes named to the all-conference teams.
The Vikings set a new team record with 47 regular-season wins and went undefeated at home (23-0).
Sophomore infielder Princess Arredondo was recognized as the FCSAA Sun Lakes Conference and Region 8 Player of the Year, hitting .508 with 65 RBIs, 20 doubles and 21 home runs.
Alyssa Vallad was recognized as the FCSAA Sun-Lakes Conference and Region 8 pitcher of the Year, hitting .420 with 54 RBIs, 22 doubles and 18 home runs.

For a second consecutive year, softball head coach Joe Pound has been named FCSAA DII Coach of the Year. This is Pound’s fourth year coaching the Viking softball team.
Ranked No. 1 in Division II softball, the Vikings will host the FCSAA Region 8 Division II tournament May 1 - 3 in a four-team double elimination tournament on the SJR State Palatka Campus, with the winner advancing to the NJCAA DII South District Championship May 9 & 10 for a spot to play in the World Series.
