SJR State staff and students celebrate the inaugural Viking Valor event

St. Johns River State College recently welcomed Veterans to its St. Augustine Campus for an evening of service and connection. Created for Veterans by a Veteran, the Viking Valor event reflects the College’s ongoing commitment to honor its military-connected students while continuing to strengthen meaningful pathways for connection, support, and success within the community.

Students gathered to dine, network and explore resources available to support each Veteran’s academic and personal success.

As a Veteran, Rose Moise, SJR State’s Coordinator of Student Onboarding, Engagement and Success, spearheaded the event to create a space that intentionally honors military-connected students and make their presence visible on campus.

“As a Veteran, I understand the importance of holding an event that not only acknowledges their service, but also connects them with the people, programs, and resources available to support them throughout their time at SJR State,” Moise said.

Special thanks go to event sponsors and vendors Supervisor of Elections, St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, Hope 4 Veterans, The Fire Watch, Three Rivers Legal and Goodwill North FL.
