Admissions & Application

When can I apply to the program?
Applications are accepted once per year, typically April 1 – May 15 for fall admission.

Is the program competitive?

Do I have to take all Radiologic Technology courses at SJR State?
Yes. All core Radiologic Technology courses must be completed at the college.

Program Structure

How long is the program?
About two years (20 months) (full-time) to complete the associate in science degree.

Where are classes and clinicals held?

  • Prerequisites: Any campus and online
  • Core Classes: St. Augustine campus
  • Clinicals: Various healthcare facilities across multiple counties (St. Johns, Putnam, Clay, Duval, Volusia)

What kind of training will I receive?
A combination of:

  • Classroom instruction
  • Lab work with modern imaging equipment
  • Extensive clinical rotations in real healthcare settings including hospitals, imaging centers, free standing ERs, and orthopedics

Licensing & Certification

Will I be eligible for certification after graduation?
Yes. Graduates can take the ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) exam, which is nationally recognized.

  • Apply for state license

What is a Basic X-ray Machine Operator license?

  • A Florida state license for limited radiography practice
  • Individuals with this license usually work in small offices with limited X-ray exams and are required to self-study and take a proctored exam for licensing.
  • Having this license can earn extra admission points in the selection process.

Clinical & Program Requirements

Are students insured during clinical training?
Yes. Students are covered by liability insurance through the Florida College System Risk Management Consortium.
