Yes, the program plan will be individualized to meet your needs.

Is the program online?
The program is a hybrid program where students engage in both online learning and periodic on-campus instruction as part of the overall program format.

Does the program include hands-on learning experiences?
Yes, students complete required hands-on clinical experiences through partnerships with Clay, St. Johns, and Putnam county school districts.

Does this program lead to the Florida Professional Educator Certification?
Yes, completion of the required coursework, internship, and all applicable Florida Teacher Certification Examinations (FTCE) prepares graduates for eligibility for the Florida Professional Educator Certification.

Which Florida Teacher Certification Exams (FTCE) will I need to take?
Exceptional Student Education K-12: Students must complete the Florida Teacher Certification Examinations (FTCE), which include the General Knowledge Exam, the Professional Education Exam, and the Exceptional Student Education K–12 Subject Area Exam.

Early Childhood Education: Students must complete the Florida Teacher Certification Examinations (FTCE), which include the General Knowledge Exam, the Professional Education Exam, and the Prekindergarten/Primary PK–3 Subject Area Exam.

When can I begin the program?
The program admits students for both Fall and Spring term start dates.

What are the admission requirements for this program?
Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, have completed the requirements for an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree, and have successfully completed EDF 2005, Introduction to the Teaching Profession. In addition, students must have attempted the Florida Teacher Certification General Knowledge Exam and passed at least two of the four subtests.

Can I transfer credits from another college or university?
Yes, transfer credits are accepted as long as the courses align with equivalent St. Johns River State College courses.
