SJR State law enforcement cadets recognized

Criminal Justice Academy award winners: Law Enforcement Coordinator Threasa Owens, with DeAnna Bertola (Medallion Award); Belal Saadeh (Academic Achiever award for the highest GPA); and Andrew Wright (Most Proficient in Firearms award).

Cadets from the St. Johns River State College Criminal Justice Academy were recently recognized for completing the Florida Law Enforcement Academy program.

During the ceremony, Belal Saadeh received the Academic Achiever award for the highest GPA. Andrew Wright received the Most Proficient in Firearms award. DeAnna Bertola received the Medallion Award.

The guest speaker was St. Augustine Beach Police Chief Daniel Carswell.

The graduates include DeAnna Bertola, Tayler Brown, Nicholas Cleland, Julian Espinoza, Kayleigh Fulks, Tyler Goslin, Hunter Hartsell, Brandon Hartz, Cheyla Martinez, Jorgedreka Murray, Timothy Richardson, Ean Roberts, Belal Saadeh, Tristan Smith, Coby Stoinoff, Michael Vinson and Andrew Wright.

Located at the St. Augustine campus, SJR State’s Criminal Justice Academy and provides job-related training to prepare cadets for entry-level employment in the field. Upon completion of the certificate programs, cadets will be eligible to take the state certification exam. The certificates also provide credit hours that can be transferred to SJR State’s associate in science degree in criminal justice technology.

Applications for the new Bachelor of Science In Criminal Justice, Applied Intelligence Studies and the Associate in Science in Paralegal Studies will be available late spring.
