St. Johns River State College proudly supports homeschool students across Clay, Putnam, and St. Johns Counties. We're here to help you succeed on your academic journey and make the most of your dual enrollment opportunities.

PLEASE NOTE: All dual enrollment applications after Sept. 1, 2026 will require proof of U.S. citizenship. High school counselors will not be responsible for collecting documentation. Learn more about what verification documents are needed and why.

Dual Enrollment Advisor: Michele Menadue

Step 1: Print the Homeschool Checklist and use it to track your progress.
Check each box as you complete a step. This will help make sure you have completed all required steps.
Incomplete applications will not be processed.

Step 2: Complete the Online Dual Enrollment Application
Complete the SJR State Dual Enrollment Application online.
When completing the application:

  • Select “Dual Enrollment – Private or Home School” as the Admit Type.
  • Do not select the county you live in.

Once you have submitted your application, you will receive an email letting you know your application has been received and that you will need to log back in to complete the following supplemental items for your application to be processed.

  • Student/Parent Consent Form (must be signed by both student and parent).
  • The Letter of Recommendation/Counselor Consent Form. This will need to be emailed to your parent. Your parent will sign this form as your high school “counselor” and will also attach a copy of your placement test scores (step 4).
  • Upload required Citizenship Documentation. More information on this in Step 3.

After Admissions approves your application, your student ID number (X number) will be sent to the email address used on the application.

Step 3: Verify Your U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Presence
As part of the SJR State application, you must confirm that you are either:

  • U.S. citizen, or
  • Lawfully present in the United States

After you submit your application, you must log back into your application and upload at least one acceptable document that verifies your U.S. citizenship or lawful presence.
Uploading a document does not mean this requirement is complete right away. SJR State must review and verify your document before you can enroll in classes. Because this review takes time, upload your document as soon as possible after submitting your application.
Do not wait until your application or registration deadline.

Acceptable Citizenship Documents
If you are a U.S. citizen, you may provide one of the following:

  • Birth certificate
  • U.S. passport
  • Certificate of Naturalization (Form N-550 or N-570)
  • Certificate of Citizenship (Form N-560 or N-561)
  • Consular Report of Birth Abroad (Form FS-240)
  • Certificate of Birth Issued by a Foreign Service Post (Form FS-545)
  • Certification of Report of Birth (Form DS-1350)

Acceptable Lawful Presence Documents
If you are lawfully present in the United States, acceptable documents may include:

  • Permanent Resident Card or Resident Alien Card
  • Arrival/Departure Record (Form I-94)
  • Employment Authorization Document
  • Documentation showing refugee or asylum status
  • Other acceptable official immigration documents

Step 4: Provide Placement Test Scores
A parent must upload your ACT, SAT, PERT, PSAT, CLT, or other accepted placement test scores in the Letter of Recommendation/Counselor Consent Form. Parents: Do not complete the Letter of Recommendation/Counselor Consent Form until you have the test scores ready to upload.

If you do not have placement test scores, schedule the PERT with the SJR State Testing Center. Your test scores are used to determine your placement in English and Math. There is no minimum test score required for admission. Visit the Testing Center webpage for more information about the PERT and PERT payment.

Step 5: Complete the Counselor Consent Form
Students will need to send the Letter of Recommendation/Counselor Consent Form to their parent’s email address. Your parent will complete this form as your homeschool counselor.

Remember:

  • Only upload your placement test scores.
  • Do not upload additional documents.

Step 6: Complete the Homeschool Verification Form

TO REGISTER WITH PEP:
Personalized Education Program (PEP) IMPORTANT! - If you receive PEP funding, you will not be registered with the county.
Complete both sections of the Homeschool PEP Verification Form using your PEP award information. Include the completed form in your final admissions packet in Step 8.
Do not send the PEP verification form to the county.

TO REGISTER WITH THE COUNTY:
 Complete the top section of the Homeschool Verification form then send the form to the county you are registered with.
The county will complete the bottom section. Once the form is complete, include it in your final admissions packet in Step 8.

Step 7: Review and sign the current year’s Homeschool Articulation Agreement.
Include the signed signature page in your final admissions packet in Step 8.
Both the student and parent must sign the agreement.

Step 8: Submit the Final Admissions Packet
Your packet must include:

  • Signed Homeschool Checklist
  • County Verification Form or PEP Verification Form
  • Signed Articulation Agreement signature page with both the student and parent signatures

Incomplete packets may delay processing.
Check the Dates and Deadlines Informationfor the correct submission windows.

Step 9: Set Up Your SJR State Account & Complete Orientation
Once your application has been processed, you will receive instructions for setting up your SJR State account. Please complete this step as soon as possible. Once your account is set up, you can access Canvas through the “Student Important Links” box.

You will be added to the SJR State Homeschool Dual Enrollment Hub in Canvas, where you will complete your required Homeschool Orientation. Please begin the orientation as soon as the Hub appears in your Canvas.

You must complete the Homeschool Orientation before you can register for classes. Registration forms will not be processed until the orientation requirement has been completed.

Step 10: Complete the Dual Enrollment Registration Form
After your Zoom meeting, complete the Dual Enrollment Registration Form, be sure to include your SJR State X number.
Make sure a parent signs the “High School Counselor” or “Dual Enrollment Contact” signature line.
More information on completing registration can be found in the SJR State Homeschool Dual Enrollment Hub you will join in Step 9.
Email the completed form to for final review.

Step 11: Check Your Class Schedule
Log in to MySJRstate.
Go to the Student Important Links card and select "Concise Student Schedule".
Check your schedule carefully.
If you find an error, email
Include:

  • Your X number
  • A brief description of the problem

Step 12: Pick Up Your Textbooks
Bring a printed copy of your class schedule to the SJR State Bookstore to pick up your textbooks.
Please remember:

  • You must sign a rental agreement.
  • Books are available only after you have attended at least one class.
  • Any book that is not returned at the end of the semester will be charged at full price.

Step 13: Request Accommodations, If Needed
If you need accommodations for a disability, visit any SJR State Advising Center and meet with the Disabilities Coordinator.
